Help us build the future of weather forecasting

Join a community launch or host a ground station. Help our global constellation of weather balloons bring better forecasts to everyone—from farmers to firefighters to energy planners.

Community launches

Watch a weather balloon launch, up close

We bring our launch team to communities around the country. Watch a balloon take off, learn how it gathers data from the edge of space, and earn a WindBorne “Let’s talk about the weather” hat.

Upcoming events

Find a launch near you on our calendar. Follow along there for new dates, or tell us where you’d like us to launch next.

Host a ground station

Keep our balloons connected from your backyard

Our ground stations—called Comms Nerves—receive transmissions from balloons passing overhead and relay that data to our forecasting systems.

We’re expanding this global network. If you have a place to mount a small unit with open sky and cell coverage, you could help keep our balloons connected.

Is your site a good fit?

  • Open sky. Farmland, rural property, or an unobstructed rooftop.
  • <10 homes nearby. Too many WiFi networks can interfere with the signal.
  • Basic cell coverage. The station sends data over cellular.

What’s involved

  • Quick set up. We ship the equipment and walk you through installation.

  • Let it run. Solar powered, no WiFi needed, and no day-to-day maintenance.

  • Get compensated. We pay for installation and each maintenance visit.
