WindBorne Systems is supercharging weather forecasts with a unique proprietary data source: a global constellation of next-generation smart weather balloons targeting the most critical atmospheric data. We design, manufacture, and operate our own balloons, using the data they collect to generate otherwise unattainable weather intelligence.

Our mission is to eliminate weather uncertainty, and in the process help humanity adapt to climate change, be that predicting hurricanes or speeding the adoption of renewables. We are building a future in which the planet is instrumented by thousands of our microballoons, eliminating gaps in our understanding of the planet and giving people and businesses the information they need to make critical decisions. The founding team of Stanford engineers was named Forbes 2019 30 under 30 and is backed by top-tier investors, including Khosla Ventures and Footwork VC.

We’re hiring a Head of Commercial Growth to spin up a sales machine. We have best-in-class forecasts and detailed products built to give customers insight from those: we need you to rapidly scale our sales of both existing products and future ones. We’re looking for a generalist who excels at sales to realize our vision.

Responsibilities

  • Grow revenue across all commercial  verticals. Key verticals include energy, logistics, agriculture and insurance. Build relationships, get customers invested in WindBorne – then close deals
  • Identify and unlock new verticals and translate them into  a repeatable process in each of them
  • Write and continuously rewrite the sales playbook with creative approaches
  • Be the voice of the customer, working cross-functionally with our AI, Meteorology, and Product teams to shape what we build
  • Collaborate closely with the product team to refine our offerings
  • Rigorously manage customer relationships, never letting an opportunity slip through the cracks
  • Sell with vision and rigor.  You’re not selling a product that exists in the market, you’re selling what the future of weather forecasting can be 
  • Scale revenue by 10x+ owning not just near-term growth, but helping drive long-term commercial vision

  • You have gone from 0 to 1 spinning up sales, bringing your process from exploration to maturity
  • Experience selling complex B2B products
  • Generalist who learns quickly
  • Drive and hunger to close deals, build relationships and generate real-world impact
  • Scrappiness
  • Product-minded seller, partnering with technical teams to shape and test our market solutions 
  • You love complexity and are not afraid of new markets 
  • Bonus: experience in weather
  • Bonus: experience with energy, logistics, agriculture , or insurance
