WindBorne Systems is supercharging weather forecasts with a unique proprietary data source: a global constellation of next-generation smart weather balloons targeting the most critical atmospheric data. We design, manufacture, and operate our own balloons, using the data they collect to generate otherwise unattainable weather intelligence.
Our mission is to eliminate weather uncertainty, and in the process help humanity adapt to climate change, be that predicting hurricanes or speeding the adoption of renewables. We are building a future in which the planet is instrumented by thousands of our microballoons, eliminating gaps in our understanding of the planet and giving people and businesses the information they need to make critical decisions. The founding team of Stanford engineers was named Forbes 2019 30 under 30 and is backed by top-tier investors, including Khosla Ventures and Footwork VC.
WindBorne is looking for a mission critical Software Engineer as we scale our global operations. Your mission, should you choose to accept it, will be building core infra & tools to solve the bottlenecks on the way to total 24/7 global data coverage. From automating manufacturing & launch throughput to efficiently analyzing a flood of concurrent telemetry into real-time data feeds, you will be architecting & implementing the foundational platform solutions that will enable our Atlas Constellation. This is an intentionally broad set of tasks that require a systems-level understanding & excitement of how your software keeps the spice flowing. As a key player in expanding the world's largest atmospheric sensing network and the world's highest accuracy AI weather predictions, you'll contribute to work that has far-reaching implications.
Create software solutions that enable operations to build, launch, & navigate autonomous GSBs more reliably, at a higher volume, & faster; growing our constellation from 100s of concurrent GSBs to 1000s.
