WindBorne Systems is supercharging weather models with a unique proprietary data source: constellations of next-generation smart weather balloons targeting the most critical atmospheric data. We then combine that unique data source with the world’s most accurate AI weather models. We're seeking a web design intern who got into the field because they get a deep satisfaction from seeing a design come to life. Our core technologies are Ruby on Rails and React. While the core of your role will be styling, you'll be expected to both learn your way around the codebase and get into product design.

There's no such thing as an intern project at WindBorne: you'll be working on real tasks that meaningfully impact our ability to build a planetary nervous system and change the way humans interact with the weather. Depending on when you join, this may mean working on our mission control suite, the system that lets us control thousands of balloons as they circle around the globe. Or, it may mean working on our customer-facing products, building tools for businesses to make sense of the weather as it impacts everything from solar production to shipping logistics. You'll start off with small tweaks to get familiar with the code base then graduate to bigger and bigger features.

You should have great fluency with CSS and an eye for design. While you don't need to have formal work experience, you should definitely have worked on your own projects outside of class assignments. You should be a fast learner and prepared to quickly digest a torrent of information. You should also be the kind of person that cares deeply about the fundamentals of product design, reasoning from first principles about what makes a solution "good".
