WindBorne Systems is seeking a Government Business Development Lead to help grow our government sales. You will be responsible for identifying and pursuing new government sales opportunities, as well as managing and expanding our existing customer relationships. You will work closely with our engineering and manufacturing teams to ensure that our products meet the needs of our government customers.

Roles and responsibilities

  • Identify and pursue new sales opportunities with government agencies, including BAAs, RFIs, and RFPs
  • Manage and expand existing government contracts
  • Manage relationships with government contacts
  • Develop a deep understanding of WindBorne’s technology and how it can be applied to solve various government challenges
  • Lead development of grant applications and other communication materials
  • Manage other team members for development of grant applications and other communication materials as necessary
  • Attend domestic and international trade shows and conferences; run demos
  • Manage online profiles in various government sales systems, including invoicing requests
  • Communicate deadlines and commitments from contracts to other team members to ensure contracts are executed smoothly
  • Create reports for the customer after completion of contracted milestones

Skills and Qualifications


  • 2+ years of experience in a relevant field, eg grant writing, government relations, business development, or sales
  • High level of proficiency with Google Suite (docs, slides, sheets, gmail, calendar)
  • Strong technical writing and communication skills
  • Enough scientific & engineering knowledge to understand how our technology will change weather
  • Willingness to operate in a fast paced environment and make tradeoffs between quantity and quality of work
  • Experience working within a Digital HQ chat platform, e.g. Slack
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
  • Persistence and dedication when following up with external parties
  • Love both for technical writing and for talking with third parties

Nice to have

  • Familiarity with government procurement processes
  • Experience selling weather-related products or services to government agencies
  • Knowledge of the weather community
